"Funding In December 2001, funding of £86,000 was initially allocated from the Scottish Executive’s Winter Planning Initiative. This agreed amount was given to pilot an early assisted discharged scheme for 3 months for patients admitted to hospital with an exacerbation of COPD. Following the success of the pilot, NHS Grampian continued to fund the service on a “non-recurring basis”. In 2005, this service was integrated into respiratory medicine with recurring annual funding of £200,000."
