"28.: Frances May Witherspoon (1886–1973) graduated from Bryn Mawr in 1908 and moved to New York in 1913. She was co-founder and Executive Secretary of the New York Bureau of Legal Advice. She was involved in movements for women’s rights, civil rights and world peace. Her personal collection is held at Swarthmore College.
