Ethical approval/informed consentThe data were collected as part of an institutional review board–approved study at Columbia University (approval numbers AAA5384 and AAAD4775). Patients provided informed consent when they were able to do so. Otherwise, a health care proxy or legally authorized representative did so. When there was no designated health care proxy or legally authorized representative and the patient was unable to provide informed consent, they were enrolled under a waiver of consent as long as a family member did not object. If a patient regained consciousness later, they provided consent or declined participation.
