"We prospectively registered our review protocol (PROSPERO, CRD42020173288) and searched seven research databases: Avery Index, ERIC, MEDLINE, CINAHL, PsycInfo, SportDiscus, and Web of Science for empirical research from peer-reviewed journals, theses, and dissertations without time period or language restrictions to September 26, 2022. We hand-searched Children, Youth, and Environments (CYE is not indexed in the searched databases), consulted experts, and carried out forward/backward citation tracking of included papers to identify additional relevant articles.
