Developing the CARE intervention to enhance ethical self-efficacy in dementia care through the use of literary texts.

"Declarations Ethics approval and consent to participateThe study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee (REC) of the University of Southern Denmark (Case No. 20/61,405) and by the Danish Data Protection Regulation (RIO Legal Services) (No. 11.154). It was conducted in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki. Staff members in Rudersdal municipality were informed in writing that participation was voluntary, and that all data would be handled confidentially. Informed consent was obtained from patients with dementia´s legal guardians/ relatives/ next of kin. Relatives of people living with dementia at participating nursing homes were informed about the study in writing. They were informed that participation in the study was voluntary and that they could withdraw at any time without any consequence for current or future help or support from the nursing home. This procedure of informed consent was supplemented with process consent throughout the project, so that each participant was continuously informed about the project and given the opportunity to refuse to participate in interviews or observations.
